Who saw The Avengers this past weekend? Judging by the $200 million dollar take in (a new world record), not very many people missed it. I decided not to do a review because everyone I talked to loved it, but here is a quickie - 10/10...... It was incredible!, by far the best Marvel movie ever, it handled every character with ease and the story was spot on. Best review ever or what ?
What I want to talk about though is, who was that character that had that evil grin af the ending credits. I was a huge Marvel comic book fan when I was a wee child and I even didn't know who it was. So let's educate each other for a minute.
He is known as Thanos

Thanos is a mutant member of the race of superhumans known as the Titanian Eternals. The character possesses abilities common to the Eternals, but in some cases far beyond any other known member of his race; acquired through a combination of his mutant Eternal heritage, bionic amplification, mysticism, and the entity Death. He has demonstrated enormous superhuman strength, stamina, and particularly durability; is able to absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy; is virtually ageless and immortal; does not need food, drink, or oxygen; and is capable of certain telekinesis, as well as telepathy and matter manipulation. The advanced technology within his transportation chairs includes force field projection, time travel, movement through alternate universes, space flight, and teleportation over interstellar distances. Thanos is an accomplished hand-to-hand combatant, having been trained in the art of war on Titan.
All of that basically makes him immortal, which will make for some crafty script writing when The Avengers 2 hits. Whats more interesting though is that Thor 2 hits theatres next year, which is rumoured Thanos will make an appearance which leads into The Avengers sequel. It totally makes sense because Thanos was always interested in possessing the cosmic cube. Now that Thor's people possess it, it makes perfect sense to have him as the next bad guy.
