Does your dog lay like this at home?

      Guelph-20120525-00489

I do bring Charlie to work with me everyday, and thankfully he's a great dog because he doesn't bug visitors and only "sometimes" get's in the office staffs way. But I find it funny that he always lays like this. I imagine he likes to keep an eye on things, but wouldnt his head hurt after a while ?

The closer the final Batman movie get's here, the more the anticipation rattles everyone in their movie chair. Christopher Nolan has released two more TV Spots today and they give a little more insight on what we'll expect.

The first one is focused on Bane, obviously Batmans new nemesis, and the second focuses on Selina (aka. Catwoman). I think a lot of people are weary about the whole introduction of her, but let's face it. Nolan has given us two epic Bat flicks so far and I doubt he would let us down in the conclusion.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theatres July 20th

      Big Wreck Concert

Alicia and I got tickets for a Big Wreck concert last week right in our home town. I love when a great band comes around and you don't even have to drive an hour or so to get there. Big Wreck is one of Canada's premiere bands. Which really sucked when they broke up there for about 10 years. Their first album since then "Albatross" is a really solid album, definitely check it out on iTunes people.

So the concert was of course great. A good venue of 1500 people but we certainly payed for it the next morning considering we didn't get home until 12:30am.

I was a little confused at the concert when I noticed everyone was in their late 30's or a little older. Then I thought to myself, I'm one year away from being 30, dammit.

      Charlies Vet Check-up

It wasn't suppose to be a vet check up per-say, considering he was just going in for a haircut. But now vet's require every dog to have their blood work on heart worm, rabies and everything else done before a groomer touches them. So Charlie, our Standard Poodle had quite a tiring day. I dropped him off at 8am and he wasn't ready until 3pm. If you have a dog and have gone through all this, you probably know how stressful dogs get when some strange people are poking around their bodies.

Before Charlie / After Charlie - I think he loses 5lbs of hair every time he goes.

I head over to grab the dog at 3pm and I'm preparing myself for the whole sales pitch on everything to "love your dog better". Which in vet's language, is to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars to inspect every organ, vein and blood cell. Whats made me happy is that they have several new vets that's taken over the retired vet's practice. Which is good news to me because I hated her with a passion. She was arrogant, didn't listen to our questions and basically gave us the most expensive routes for treatment of any kind. "End of rant"

She goes over what she thinks is a "heads up" for us on Charlies health. His back legs are stiff, his teeth aren't the best and he has a mole on the left side of his nose she wanted to check out. I mean, he's 10 years old and for poodles, he's getting up there for the type of dog he is. So doing any crazy surgery or treatments is kinda ridiculous for me considering poodles typically live only untl 11-13 years old.. Other then that, she said his blood work is perfect, he's happy, and for being over 60 years old, is in excellent health. She also put on our chart that he's a very sweet boy that constantly kept giving the vet kisses.

      Good enough diagnosis for me!

At work now, Charlie needs his sleep from all the stress yesterday.

      Prometheus Featurette - Origins

Other then The Dark Knight Rises, Ridley Scott's Prometheus is what I'm most excited for this year. It opens in only 30 days and Fox has done a tremendous job marketing this thing. The viral videos of Michael Fassbender as the android "David" are just great. The pictures have been just a huge tease and the trailer doesn't give a single thing away.

Now, with a month to go. Scott has released this 3 minute inside look on what to expect, why they created this movie 30 years after the release of Alien and that he's pushing the envelope of sci-fi films. It's actually really interesting and will make you want to head over to NASA to read up on everything space.

      baseball-season-has-begun-ntroatFBCknwujhxxmkr.zip (301 KB)

Summer has arrived, and so has the baseball season. Nothing is better then fresh cut grass, an amazing play and a few beers after a game - hey what do you expect, its softball. The crappy pictures is my bad, I was busy warming up and especially getting questions from my teammates like ( hey fucker, are you taking pictures for your mommy), naturally, I had to take them quickly.

Every year we have an opening tournament, which is this weekend coming up. The league is split into four divisions. The strongest is called Elite, then Tier 1, 2 and 3. Our team folded last year because we lost several players and decided to go our separate ways. Coming back in 2012, we had to start off in Tier 1, which the rules stipulate, a new team must start there and however your season goes, will determine if you're moved up or down. Our first game was Monday night, which we won 21-7. So we're hopeful the rest of the season will go well.

The last two years we were a team, we played in Elite, which is very, very competitive. But when I came into the  league, we started off in Tier 1, which we pretty much dominated and later on, moved up to the more competitive division.

Let's hope for a great season to get back in the best ball we can play.

      The Avengers "Ending Credits"

      • Autopost

Who saw The Avengers this past weekend? Judging by the $200 million dollar take in (a new world record), not very many people missed it. I decided not to do a review because everyone I talked to loved it, but here is a quickie - 10/10...... It was incredible!, by far the best Marvel movie ever, it handled every character with ease and the story was spot on. Best review ever or what ?

What I want to talk about though is, who was that character that had that evil grin af the ending credits. I was a huge Marvel comic book fan when I was a wee child and I even didn't know who it was. So let's educate each other for a minute.

      He is known as Thanos

      http://www.comicbooked.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/thanos-imperative-3.jpg

Thanos is a mutant member of the race of superhumans known as the Titanian Eternals. The character possesses abilities common to the Eternals, but in some cases far beyond any other known member of his race; acquired through a combination of his mutant Eternal heritage, bionic amplification, mysticism, and the entity Death. He has demonstrated enormous superhuman strength, stamina, and particularly durability; is able to absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy; is virtually ageless and immortal; does not need food, drink, or oxygen; and is capable of certain telekinesis, as well as telepathy and matter manipulation. The advanced technology within his transportation chairs includes force field projection, time travel, movement through alternate universes, space flight, and teleportation over interstellar distances. Thanos is an accomplished hand-to-hand combatant, having been trained in the art of war on Titan.

All of that basically makes him immortal, which will make for some crafty script writing when The Avengers 2 hits. Whats more interesting though is that Thor 2 hits theatres next year, which is rumoured Thanos will make an appearance which leads into The Avengers sequel. It totally makes sense because Thanos was always interested in possessing the cosmic cube. Now that Thor's people possess it, it makes perfect sense to have him as the next bad guy.

      Mothers Day Awkward Card

      • Autopost

Mothers Day is coming up quickly. What are your plans for your mommy? Mine is usually an original idea like going out for dinner, then passing my mom a card that I put 1.2 seconds of thought into. Best son or what!?

My mother has put her foot down on any goofy ideas for the day actually. When I was young, I'd do fancy gift ideas, but I'm almost 30 years old and it's just a little ridiculous to do anything elaborate. A good old dinner out somewhere to catch up, have a few drinks is usually what my famil enjoys doing.

Just a thought this Mothers Day, don't buy a card like the one I found this weekend.
